At Walsh Podiatry we use a range of injectables to help with soft tissue and joint pain. Here we we use Ostenil Injections, however, sometimes others are used depending on the patient and the condition.
Ostenil ® injections are designed to provide long-term relief in Osteoarthritis (OA). They help decrease pain and stiffness and improve the other symptoms of OA and can be used in the knee, or in any of the other joints in the body that are classified as ‘synovial’.
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition affecting many joints of the body especially in the foot and also the knee. The cartilage surface becomes worn and the natural space between the bones becomes reduced. Ostenil ® work by a process called viscosupplementation and restores the natural balance of sodium hyaluronate within the joint to reduce pain and stiffness.
Anywhere between 1 to 3 injections may be required and the effect of the injections can last for many months. If the effect does wear off you can easily and safely have more with no worries about side effects.
