Wear and tear of a joint so the surface of the joint (cartilage) becomes less able to move freely around itself and the other surfaces of the joint.
This definition does not do justice to the pain the process can cause and the amount of suffering world-wide this condition contributes to.
Some people suffer earlier than others but at some point in our lives most of us will develop a form of arthritis in at least one of our joints. Especially the feet, knee or hips.
Poor mechanics can cause inefficient gait and then lead the joints to wear out quicker.
So intervening as early as possible can be a great way to try to improve function and gait efficiency.
