Nail surgery is an safe effective and efficient way of dealing with ingrowing toenails. Sometimes nail surgery is not required and it can be dealt with much more simply however if it is necessary nail surgery done to cure the problem.

We use local anaesthetics to make the whole toe numb and then remove the section of nail which is ingrown. Then normally we would use a chemical to stop the nail re-growing on that small edge section of the nail so preventing the problem re-occurring in the future.

Afterwards we monitor patients during the healing process which takes about 4-6 weeks during which time normal activity can usually be maintained, however swimming and some sports should be avoided.
