Foot Mobilisation Therapy

FMT (Foot Mobilisation Therapy)

What is it?

Often the bones in your feet are out of the optimum position for good function.  This happens over time and gradually.  If you think of the wheels on a car it is like when the wheel alignment is out and there will be more wear and tear on the car.

To put things back into their optimum position or ‘align’ them makes them function much better again.  This then reduces the wear and tear on your body and helps the symptoms settle down.

HOW?Walsh Podiatry Birmingham - Measuring ankle dorsiflexion

We have a 6 weeks course of treatment where treatments twice weekly.  You will be given exercises to do at home during this time also.  After 3 weeks we review your condition and normally things are up to 50% better at this point.  If this is the case we continue the mobilisation treatment for the next 3 weeks.

Gradually the soft tissues which form bonds in the foot restricting normal function are released and they form new bonds in better positions to help normal function.

Many patients find this treatment can really help their problem and resets their foot function to enable free movement without pain.

Please see the Patients stories blog for patients who have had FMT treatment.
